The Chateau Laurier is perfectly located in the heart of downtown Ottawa. It is easy walking distance to Parlement Hill and Byward Market area as well as over looking the Rideau locks. The casino is a short cab ride away. The hotels terrace overlooking the Rideau is a perfect place for an evening cocktail and meal. If you like old world charm and a change from the cookie cutter newer hotels, you'll love the Chateau Laurier.

Hotel location and staff attentiveness can't be beat. Zoe's restaurant food highest quality although limited menu best for luncheon: Servers attentive but not intrusive. Hotel offers a tea service and another restaurant which I didn't try. Stayed twice this year: Once for Tulip Festival in May and again for Ottawa Jazz Festival including Canada Day in July. You are not allowed to check in or out of the hotel on Canada Day. Booked Gold which includes lounge with buffet breakfast, evening Hors d'oeuvres, unlimited soda/water from refrigerator, fruit and nighttime cookies, separate check-in and a number to call for all your hotel needs (except room service), free local calls, dvds, small library. I believe everyone gets a daily local newspaper. Walk everywhere - major shopping mall across street, Rideau Centre, Parliament Hill next door with free tours, Major's Hill Park with Canada Day fireworks adjacent to back of hotel, boat tours next to and across street from hotel. Caution: The snacks in the room are not gratis.

The charm of the castle was replicated in a beautiful room with a view of the canal and the locks. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was located in the middle of the action -- you could walk to tour sites, the market, and amazing restaurants. Wonderful hotel and city for a weekend getaway!

Wonderful hotel experience. Great location, next to Rideau Canal, Ottawa River, Parliament buildings, Byward Market, Rideau Centre, 10 minute walk to Ottawa U. campus. Great historical importance to the building. Beautiful architecture of the building and surrounding buildings and structures. Very nice room. Excellent bed and bedding. Very clean. Attentive and helpful staff. A 5 Star experience. Did not eat there, but other than that non-experience, nothing the least bit negative to say about what we did experience. Hope to stay there again some day.

I stayed there for 2 days with my wife and it was unbelievable how the staff was great. Service was first class and our room was newly renovated. First time I see large LCD flat panel TV in a hotel room. I will come back later this summer with the hole family.
